Immune lymphocyte repertoires provide a unique fingerprint reflecting the immune history of individuals, with potential applications in precision medicine. Can this information be used to identify a person uniquely? I will describe how these diverse repertoires are generated. I will then discuss current ideas and evidence for how self-reactive T cells are eliminated leading to naive repertoires.
