Abstract

In my talk I will examine the effects of selection in systems that do not necessarily harbour replication. I will show that this type of selection is very wide spread, and that it is very similar in nature to Darwinian selection. This means that some properties that we usually associate with biological systems – for example the appearance of biological function – can be extended beyond biology.
