Abstract

Epistatic networks describe the ways in which mutations affect each other's phenotypic consequences. In the theory lunch I will talk about the system level organization of predicted epistatic interactions among mutations in the metabolic network of yeast using the framework of Flux Balance Analysis (FBA). I will discuss a distinctive mathematical property of the network, which we term "monochromaticity", that allows us to extend the classical concept of epistasis from the gene interaction level to the level of interactions between functional module.
